'An intimate and obsessive book, but one not only for the fans: this is a story about fresh starts and second chances and how to navigate them as an adult' MARIANA ENRIQUEZ'The candid biography of Suede we've all been waiting for' STEVE LAMACQAward-winning writer Rodge Glass was granted unprecedented access to Suede at home, backstage, in rehearsal and in the studio, to write _As One_, an intimate biography of the band.He joins us this September along with Neil Codling, Suede's keyboardist, rhythm guitarist, and co-songwriter to talk about how he gained the trust of this famously private band to produce a fascinating portrait of the platinum-selling, Mercury Prize-winning, giants of British independent music, Suede._The official, intimate and candid biography charting the second act of Suede during their remarkable second act.__This year will mark thirty-three years since Suede released their debut eponymous album and sixteen since their glorious and unexpected comeback in 2010.__Their two most recent albums -_ Autofiction _in 2022 and_ Antidepressants _in 2025 - both reached number two in the UK charts.__Based on exclusive and extensive interviews with the band, their family and friends,_ As One_ is an intimate and candid biography of one of the UK's biggest band's during the unlikely second act of a career that spans four decades.

It is a book that studies the band from close up and afar, written by award-winning author Rodge Glass, who has been granted unprecedented access to the members at home, on stage, backstage, in the studio, rehearsing and promoting over the past three years.__It is an honest, long-term interrogation of what it is really like to be in Suede.

The book asks difficult questions about how great bands survive and thrive over time, many years after their first flush of success.

How do you build back up from nothing? How do you reconnect with your audience, while avoiding simply rehashing old ideas? How do relationships in a band change with time? How do you remake Suede?_Rodge Glass is the author of nine books.

These include the novels No Fireworks, Hope for Newborns and Bring Me the Head of Ryan Giggs, the collection Stories for the EasyJet Generation, a graphic novel, Dougie's War: A Soldier's Story (with Dave Turbitt) and Alasdair Gray: A Secretary's Biography, which won a Somerset Maugham Award for non-fiction.

His work has been nominated for multiple national and international awards.

Rodge is a regular contributor to BBC Radio 4 and Radio Scotland, he has appeared at book festivals from New York to Rome to Toronto, written audio stories for children, and several of his books, stories and articles have been translated into languages such as Italian, French, Spanish and Serbian.

Prior to As One: Remaking Suede, Rodge's recent work includes Michel Faber: The Writer & his Work (2023) and Joshua in the Sky: A Blood Memoir (2024), a chapter of which, 'On the Covenant', won the Anne Brown Essay Prize.

Joshua in the Sky was also nominated for Saltire Society Non-Fiction Book of the Year 2025.

Rodge is currently reader in creative writing at the University of Strathclyde.Neil John Codling is an English musician and songwriter, best known as the keyboardist, rhythm guitarist, and co-songwriter for the alternative rock band Suede.
