Tickets 22 / Under 18s 2
Please note - anyone under 18 years old must be accompanied by a responsible adult at all times.Martin has been a star of the Mananan Festival over the years and was an automatic choice to get the 50 year celebrations underway. This year, he's appearing as part of the Roscoe Piano Trio, which unites him with violinist Fenella Humphreys and cellist Jessica Burroughs. The Roscoe Piano Trio was originally formed for a performance celebrating the life of Peter Cropper who performed with Martin Roscoe as part of the Cropper Welsh Roscoe Trio for many years. The ensemble has since performed at venues including Bridgewater Hall, the Royal Overseas League and Rossall School, and at festivals including Beverley Chamber Music Festival and Ribble Valley International Piano Week. With an extraordinary career spanning over five decades, Martin Roscoe is unarguably one of the UKs best loved pianists. Renowned for his versatility at the keyboard, Martin is equally at home in concerto, recital and chamber performances. His enduring popularity and the respect in which he is universally held are built on a deeply thoughtful musicianship and his easy rapport with audiences and fellow musicians alike. With a repertoire of over 100 concertos performed or recorded, Martin continues to work regularly with many of the UKs leading orchestras. As a prolific recitalist and chamber musician, Martin tours the UK extensively every season, including regular appearances at Wigmore Hall, Kings Place and Bridgewater Hall. Having made over 600 broadcasts, including seven BBC Prom appearances, Martin is one of the most regularly played pianists on BBC Radio 3 and has made many commercial recordings.Fenella Humphreys, winner of the 2023 BBC Music Magazine Premiere Recording Award, has won critical admiration and audience acclaim with the grace and intensity of her playing. With playing described in the press as alluring, unforgettable and a wonder, Fenella is one of the UKs most established and versatile violinists. She enjoys a busy career combining chamber music and solo work, performing at prestigious venues and festivals around the world.Described by critics as spellbinding and deeply expressive, Jessica Burroughs is equally at home as an orchestral leader, soloist and chamber musician. Alongside her position as principal cellist with Opera North, Jessica is in regular demand as a guest principal working with orchestras such as City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra, Royal Northern Sinfonia, Royal Swedish Opera, BBC Philharmonic and the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra with whom she has performed as a soloist at the Royal Albert Hall, London, and as solo cellist on an Orchid Classics CD recording of Tchaikovskys Sleeping Beauty with conductor, Barry Wordsworth.Their programme will be:
