Sonata No 2 in FJulian Metzger has forged a richly varied career as a soloist, chamber musician, orchestral player and educator. He began the cello at age four, and later studied at Wells Cathedral School and the Guildhall School of Music & Drama under Stefan Popov and Paul Roberts, then continued privately with Raphael Wallfisch. Julian has performed extensively across Europe and the Far Easton major festival platforms including the International Casals Festival in Spain, the Aberystwyth Music Fest and Buckingham Summer Festival. He is noted for his command of both standard and lesser-known cello repertoire, with performances of concertos by Bridge, Kabalevsky, Miaskovsky and Shostakovich in addition to the major classics. Equally committed to teaching and chamber music, he maintains a roster of students and collaborates with prominent musicians, combining technical prowess with expressive depth.
A distinguished British pianist, Paul Turner is celebrated for his versatility across solo, accompaniment and chamber-music roles. His early training at the Royal Academy of Music earned him major prizes including the Queens Commendation for Excellence and the Peter Pears Accompaniment Prize. He has performed internationallyfrom Londons Wigmore Hall and South Bank Centre to Buenos Aires, Amsterdam, Stuttgart and Valenciaworking with eminent artists such as Michael Collins, Nicholas Daniel, Caroline Dale and Elizabeth Watts. Turners reputation as a wise and sensitive pianist is built on his refined approach to collaboration and his wide-ranging repertoirefrom solo recitals to complex chamber works.
