Barbi Recanati

Barbi Recanati is one of the most influential figures in contemporary Argentine alternative rock and indie, known not only as a musician but also as an activist and cultural promoter.

She first gained recognition leading Utopians, the garage rock band she fronted for over a decade, earning a Latin Grammy nomination before the group disbanded in 2017.

She then launched a solo career, shifting from raw punk to a post-punk and new wave sound shaped by synths, chorus-heavy guitars, and introspective melancholy.Her debut solo album, Ubicación en tiempo real (2020), earned her a Gardel Award and another Latin Grammy nomination, followed by El final de las cosas (2023), which deepens her nostalgic style and sharp songwriting on relationships and time.

Beyond music, she co-founded Goza Records with Futurock radio to support women and gender-diverse artists, and created Mostras del Rock, a book and podcast highlighting overlooked female pioneers.

Today, she bridges classic rock’s legacy with a new independent avant-garde.
