Book your free tickets hereHospitalfield invites you to join us on Saturday 10th of October for a screening and in conversation with artists Jess Holdengarde and Chloe Charlton, this event will be followed by a communal dinner with the artists. We will be screening Collecting Light, Jess Holdengarde’s collaborative film made with Chloe Charlton in 2025, followed by an in-process chapter from a new film by Jess currently in development through FORTH2O, a Climate and Policy Innovation Partnership.Collecting Light documents, the first workshops of The Living Camera project, which took place with Lyth Arts Centre’s youth community in 2025. Shot on 16mm film and centred around the theme of “Living” at Lyth Arts Centre, the film follows a collaborative analogue workshop built around a site-specific camera obscura that transforms into a darkroom and gathering space throughout the year.Jess’ new film has been developed with support from the University of Stirling Art Collection, funded through FORTH2O, supported by Hydro Nation researchers, and mentored by LUX Scotland. The completed film will premiere with the University in 2027. This in-process chapter is being presented as part of Jess’s year-long exhibition with the University of Stirling Art Collection, offering an opportunity to encounter the work while it is still evolving.Following the screening Jess and Chloe will be in conversation about the collective process and making of the film, we then invite you to join the artists for a celebratory dinner. This screening is a presented as part of a wider project with Jess at Hospitalfield titled The Living Camera - A Collective Apparatus . Over the weekend of 9 - 11th of October, Jess will be working with local High School students from Arbroath to explore collaborative image making with experimental analogue techniques.Book your free tickets here.Image:
