A fantastic opportunity to work with two Southampton artists, Lucie Smith and Alex Sutherland, exploring the Avebury Papers project and working with a range of media to create your own artworkWe will take inspiration from Neolithic rock art and Avebury’s ancient landscape, before designing, carving and printing from lino prints using our printing press.

For those who prefer drawing and painting, we will be creating natural paints from materials like chalk, clay and charcoal, then using them to produce expressive landscape studies.

There’ll also be the chance to make atmospheric charcoal drawings inspired by the sheep among the stone circle. This workshop is free, thanks to funding from AHRC for the Avebury Papers Project, but spaces are limited.

A fully refundable £15 deposit is required to secure your place.

The fee will be automatically returned to you upon attendance.

If making the deposit is an issue, please just email us at art.gallery@southampton.gov.ukCANCELLATIONSIn the unlikely event that we cancel a session, we will offer a full refund.
