The Duchess of Malfi

The Duchess of Malfi
by John Webster
directed by Grant Barker
11 - 13, 17 - 20 March 7.30 pm. Matinee 20 March 2.30 pmIn a world of total surveillance, loyalty is a transaction and blood is never thicker than ambition. When the widowed Duchess secretly marries her steward, Antonio, she commits a "sin" of passion that defies the iron will of her brothers. What begins as a private act of rebellion spirals into a nightmare of control, madness, and grisly revenge.
John Webster's masterpiece is a visceral dive into the dark heart of the Jacobean era. The Duchess of Malfi remains a haunting exploration of female agency against a backdrop of institutional rot.Contains adult themes, violence and misogyny, and strobe lighting.
