Good Grief Festival - Memento Makers Legacy Book Workshop with This Mortal Life

What stories would you want the people you love to remember?
What are the scraps we collect over a lifetime that become the fabric of our legacy?As part of this year'sGood Grief Festival [https://superculture.org.uk/projects/goodgriefweston2026/], these are the questions we'll be answering in this hands-on workshop that introduces participants to the practice of personal legacy curation before inviting them to begin creating their own legacy book; a collection of memories, stories, photographs, recipes, reflections and other meaningful fragments of a life.Rather than trying to document an entire lifetime, we'll explore what it means to preserve memories for future generations, identifying the moments and memories that tell a meaningful story. We'll learn about different ways people approachlegacy curation [https://www.thismortallife.co.uk/blog/preserving-family-histories]and participants will begin creating a fun, but meaningful heirloom scrapbook they can continue developing in their own time and eventually pass on to the people they love.All resources are provided, with a variety of interesting materials to suit a variety of tastes and styles. Attendees will be emailed in advance with suggestions of optional items they may wish to bring along on the day. All attendees will leave with a Legacy Book they can continue to add to over time. No previous creative experience is needed; this workshop is about curiosity, memory and meaning rather than artistic ability.Suitable for:Adults of all ages and all creative abilities. Anyone who enjoys journaling, scrapbooking or other papercrafts or those interested in learning more about legacy curation will enjoy this workshop.About the registration fee: We do not want the registration fee of this workshop to be a barrier to participation. Participants of the workshop will be invited to include their Legacy Book as part of the Good Grief Festival exhibition and open day at Weston Artspace [https://www.westonartspace.com/]on Sunday, 18th October, 1-5pm at the Old Town Quarry.
