Written by John Mortimer and directed by John SavageA Voyage Round My Father, written in 1963, is John Mortimer's autobiographical portrait of a son's relationship with his father.
He grew up in the shadow of the brilliant barrister, who adored his garden but hated visitors.
An accident with an apple tree had made him blind , but this was never mentioned.
The son continually yearned for his father's love and respect.
The play traces their lives and relationship from the 1930s to 1961; from the son as a small boy being sent away to school for the first time until his success as a barrister and emerging writer. This amateur production of "A Voyage Round My Father" is presented by arrangement with Concord Theatricals Ltd. on behalf of Samuel French Ltd. www.concordtheatricals.co.uk.
