Macbeth, a loyal soldier, meets three witches on the battlefield who foretell his rise to the throne. Consumed by the prophecy, Macbeth and Lady Macbeth descend into a spiral of ambition, betrayal, and bloodshedAbout the Show
Macbeth Muet is a bold and physical reinterpretation of Shakespeares tragedy, crafted for adult audiences as well as teenagers aged 14 and up. This wordless performance offers a radically fresh perspective on Macbeth, plunging viewers into a visceral, fast-paced world of ambition, blood, and downfall.
Drawing inspiration from the silent film era, grand guignol, and melodrama, this adaptation dials the intensity up to 11. Macbeth Muet fully deconstructs the original play into a raw theatrical experience, using the body, objects as imagery, and buckets of fake blood. Entire scenes are distilled into a single glance, revealing the poetry and physicality beneath Shakespeares words.
It presents a world so devoid of morality that human lives seem as disposable as cardboard cups. And the excessthe blood, the scraps, the wasteis left behind for future kings to inherit.Presented as part of Dumfries & Galloway Arts Festival 2026
