Gershwin - An American in ParisAn exciting celebration of musical America. The panache of John Adams Short Ride sets the scene for the passion and sheer ebullience of Bernsteins West Side Story Symphonic dances. Benjamin Baker, one of our favourite violinists, returns for Korngolds increasingly popular Violin Concerto, based on some of his own Hollywood movie themes. Coplands famous Fanfare and Barbers much-loved Adagio then pave the way for Gershwins spectacular portrait of An American in Paris - a brilliant way to end our season.Steve Migden will give one of his lively and informative pre-concert talks from 6.40 to 7.10 pm. He has been a professional musician and educator since arriving from the USA in 1965 to study the horn at the Royal Academy of Music.
