Embroidery Day: Stella stitching inspired by the Bayeux comet.During this embroidery day you will explore the key stitches from the Bayeux tapestry and their use in outlining and filling, pattern making and colourwork. On display for the first time in the UK from its home in France, the Bayeux tapestry celebrates the Battle of Hastings 1066. This famous tapestry is actually an embroidery, stitched using wool c.1070s. A notable portent of doom for King Harold was the arrival of Halleys Comet, which is depicted on the Bayeux tapestry next to the word STELLA.Try out woollen thread in a new contemporary comet kit, with wools different properties to cotton skeins. Tutorials and help will be on hand throughout this group workshop day. Be inspired by both historical and contemporary design sources. Perfect for beginners or more advanced needle-workers.Embroidery kit included(If you are allergic to wool or would prefer to work with a cotton kit, please let us know when booking)Lunch, Refreshments & Materials Included.
