Fenella Humpheys - Bach by Candlelight

The famous British classical violinist Fenella Humphreys plays the complete Sonatas and Partitas by J.S.

Bach in the splendid medieval church of St Mary the Virgin in the centre of historic Shrewsbury.

These masterpieces have been described as the Mount Everest of the violin repertoire and are only performed by the very best violinists.

The works will be performed over two evenings at 7.30pm on Friday 17th and Saturday 18th July 2026 with pre-performance interviews with the artist before each recital at 7pm.

All profits from these recitals will go to the appeal for a world-class grand piano for the church.

St Mary's will be the new venue for the Shrewsbury International Recital Series which has been providing world-class classical music in the town since 2021.
