This grade 1 listed nuilding has a rich and fascinating history dating from its beginnings in 1175.Come and see the monument erected to the memory of Henry VIII by his Barber Surgeon.

Hear how the Levellers were imprisoned in the church in 1649 and how some came to an unfortunate end.

Visit the grandiose Tanfield Chapel and discover why Sir Lawrence and Lady Tanfield were not popular in the town.Volunteer guides will be on hand to share their knowledge and explain some of the stories behind the history of the church.
