The Woolgatherers Amateur Dramatics are proud to present their next production: 'Ladies Day', written by Amanda Whittington.
This classic comedy-drama about four working-class fish-packing factory workers (Pearl, Jan, Shelley, and Linda) who swap their Hull factory overalls for fancy outfits to attend the Royal Ascot races when it relocates to York.
From a fish filleting factory to the glitzy racecourse, the play is known for being a feel-good, humorous, and heartwarming story about ordinary women breaking free from their routines.
A tale of empowerment, friendship and social class, told with a mix of comedy and sentimental moments, the ladies experience a transformative, high-stakes day of champagne, bets, and personal breakthroughs, finding confidence, friendship, and potential fortune.
