Zlata Chochieva is a world-famous Russian classical pianist and plays in Shrewsbury for the first time.
Zlata is celebrated worldwide by critics and audiences alike as one of the most extraordinary artists of her generation.
Described as reminiscent of Sergei Rachmaninovs playing, she was hailed for combining the overwhelming power of Martha Argerich with the subtle, refined tonal sensitivity of her mentor Mikhail Pletnev ( Berliner Morgenpost ).This concert will help to raise money for fundraising to buy a world-class piano for St Mary's Church, the oldest and most beautiful church in Shrewsbury with fabulous acoustics.
Zlata will play all 27 of Chopin's Etudes, in an historic first for Shrewsbury.
Chopin's Etudes are fiendishly difficult to play but divine to listen to.
There will be a pre-performance interview with Zlata before the recital at 7pm.
St Mary's will be the new venue for the Shrewsbury International Recital Series which has been providing world-class classical music in the town since 2021.
