Tin Foil Aliens

Tin Foil Aliens are a five-piece modern folk/rock band based in North Suffolk, formed in 2024 by five genuine old friends with a shared history and a deep love of songcraft.
The band brings together seasoned musicians from much-loved regional acts: Paul Hale and Mark Holmes (Buster James Band, Coronation Kings), Bob Cushing (Steemy Dan, Joy), Richard Barrett (Coronation Kings, Joy), and Marie Young (Das Fenster, solo artist). What unites them isnt just experience its friendship, trust, and a collective instinct for melody and storytelling.
Their sound is driven by rich, organic instrumentation. Paul lays down the rhythmic backbone on drums and cajn, Mark and Richard weave intricate acoustic guitar textures (with Richard also sharing lead vocals), Bob anchors the songs on upright bass and vocals, while Marie colours the sonic landscape with saxophones, piano accordion, melodeon, flute and concertina. The result is a sound that feels both timeless and entirely new.
Tin Foil Aliens write collaboratively, crafting songs filled with melody, surprise and emotional honesty. Their music is a heartfelt response to the modern world passionate, thoughtful and grounded in meaningful lyrics. Rooted in the wide open skies and rugged coastline of East Anglia, their sound carries the atmosphere of big horizons and salt-air winds.
There are subtle echoes of early Bowie, The Decemberists, Turin Brakes, Crowded House and Jethro Tull woven through their music but never imitation. Instead, those flavours are distilled into something uniquely original: an ethereal folk-rock delivery with powerful builds, quirky mid-sections, strong vocal harmonies and arrangements that shift .
Tin Foil Aliens are building momentum with standout bookings at First Light Festival and Red Rooster in 2026. They are also currently recording their debut album.
