An expressive painting week, with an emphasis on creating unique colours with pigments, working both outside on the beach & in the MAC studio.A week-long dynamic course full of chances to experiment, play, grow, develop and refine your skills and knowledge of painting!Georgia will demonstrate how to mix powdered pigments with various binders and mediums to create unique colours.
You will then mix up some pots of your own paint and take them outside to work in direct response to our exciting coastal surroundings in Findhorn.
Working outside in concertina sketchbooks we will take inspiration from the sea and the sky.Back in the studio, we will work on various surfaces (some raw, some primed, canvas, board, paper and card), responding to our experiences of the natural world and from memories of other landscapes we have experienced.
We will use a range of conventional and unconventional painting tools and techniques, to find new ways to represent how landscapes, natural light and colour make us feel (water-based, oil-based and mono-printing painting processes will be introduced throughout the week). The week will begin with a presentation about Georgia’s landscape painting, alongside works by other contemporary painters.
Supported by group discussions and daily individual tutorials we will allow the process of painting to guide us to produce an exciting body of work, including some finished paintings.Materials and refreshments provided but please bring along a packed lunch!
