Our lives, today, have been profoundly influenced by the 1984-85 miners strike and that pivotal moment in the strike - The Battle of Orgreave.Set in the fictitious South Yorkshire mining village of Gracethorpe, ORGREAVE spans the year of the miner strike and follows individuals as they navigate the appalling privations of a year long strike.Central to the miners strike and also this play is the battle of Orgreave, where thousands of striking miners were pitted against thousands of police.

The most violent event on British soil since the English Civil War.

This was a tipping point in the strike and has altered our industrial, political and social history ever since. There are many sides to this play - good versus bad, government versus unions, Thatcher versus Scargill, miners versus police, striking miners versus working miners, north versus south.Make up your own minds as to who was right and who was wrong.

There are plenty of questions unanswered.
