Our Crafternoon session are held at The Old Library caf on the third Friday of the month between 2.30 4.30pm.
These monthly sessions are informal and will allow people to come along and have a taster of different crafts. This month we will learn the ancient Japanese form of braid-making calledKumihimo Braiding.Kumihimo is an ancient Japanese form of braid-making. The word Kumihimo means gathered threads in Japanese. To make a Kumihimo braid, you interlace strands of cords and ribbons in a certain order. The result is a strong, decorative braided rope.Using a braiding disc and various coloured threads, you can create braids of various patterns and then turn them into a key ring or bracelet. Materials will be provided, but if you have any pretty threads or yarns, bring them along. (Rattail makes a great braiding thread, as do chunky knitting yarns).Places are limited and booking is essential. The Crafternoon sessions cost 9.00 which includes all the materials and resources you will need.
