From Soup to Nuts: A Complete Catalogue of the Oil Paintings of Joseph Wright of Derby

This talk will present highlights and case studies from Martin Postles ongoing research, relating to his forthcoming catalogue of Wrights oil paintings, to be published by the Paul Mellon Centre.Based on painstaking archival research, a review of existing literature, new insights, and a thorough examination of known and newly recovered works in public and private collections, the catalogue covers Wrights entire painted oeuvre, including portraits, landscapes and subject pictures.This talk is presented as part of Joseph Wright Rediscovered: a series of talks organised by Derby Museums and the Paul Mellon Centre for Studies in British Art.Suitable for Adults (18+)Booking essential.
