With glassblown pumpkins, ghoulish Monster Trail, creepy ‘Make and Take’ crafting, a costume competition and lots of spooky goings on, there’ll be lots of family fun.

The spooktacular Halloween event is perfect for children between 5 and 12 years of age and up to three children go FREE with each adult admission making the event a great value for money day out.

On the day, visitors will enjoy watching Robert McLeod, Chair of the British Society of Scientific Glassblowers, create handblown miniature Halloween Pumpkins with withering leaves, spooky faces and ghastly grins and hear all about the traditional craft of glassblowing.

The pretty glass pumpkins will be on sale in the Museum Gift Shop with 100% of proceeds going to charity. Fifty percent will go to Ayrshire-based Whiteley’s Retreat, which provides short breaks for children, young people and their families with cancer and life altering illnesses. The other 50% will go to caring for the Museum’s national heritage collection.

Ghost hunting Halloween visitors can take up the challenge of the Museum’s Monster Trail with a certificate for everyone finding all the monsters hiding around the vast Linthouse!

Visitors booking on a free Creeeeepy Crafts! Make and Take session at the Museum reception at arrival, will have fun making their own puppet with moving limbs, from mummies and zombies to witches and pirates! Make and Take runs from 10.30am – 4pm.

Everyone is encouraged to come along in their scariest or silliest costume and there will be a prize for the most amazing costume of the day.
