Join us for 'Common Threads', our textile focussed community arts project inspired by the beautiful fabrics at 575 Wandsworth Road. This winter, we'll be hosting monthly workshops with local artists to explore the cultural significance of textiles in the collection and our lives today. This workshop is designed and facilitated by Elizabeth Joseph using wood and card offcuts, upcycled fabrics and pre-loved items.

Our February session, 'Make a Miniature Kimono' will used pre-prepared fabrics in the same colours and patterns as the Ikat robe in our collection, which will be hand sewn into your own colourful robe.

In March, the 'Make a Miniature Fretwork covered in Fabric' session will translate shapes from tapestries in our collection into fretwork.

In our final session in April 'Make a Miniature Wooden Chair' participants will embroider simple shapes into fabrics, and shape cut out a miniature chair.

Common Threads is part of '575 Ways to Create and Connect', a programme of everyday creativity workshops aimed at fostering social connections and inspiring creativity at every age. They can be enjoyed as a one off, or part of the wider programme and offers an accessible way of exploring our individual and collective creativity in an informal and welcoming setting.
