20 Years of Art and Medicine at BSMS

As part of Brighton and Sussex Medical School’s 20th anniversary celebrations, we are hosting a special 'BSMS20 Arts' event from 2-5pm on Saturday 25 May in the Medical Teaching Building on the University of Sussex campus.

The founding Professor of Primary Medical Care, Helen Smith, was instrumental in embedding arts in Brighton and Sussex Medical School curriculum and culture and forged excellent relationship with the local arts community that thrive to this day. She will be hosting an afternoon to share the perspectives of Brighton and Sussex Medical School alumni and the artists and educators we have worked with across the years on the role of arts-based practice in a medical school and beyond.

The talks and discussion will be accompanied by an exhibition of the art of BSMS medical students, alumni, artists and educators. Drinks reception at 5pm. Open to all interested in art and medicine.
