Voices of the Eigg Community Buy-out Exhibition

Marking 25 years since the community buy-out of Eigg, this exhibition celebrates the achievement of the long and arduous campaign which finally led to the islanders securing their future and to the Scottish Government ushering in landmark reforms and a community empowerment programme. Archive material and artifacts, newspaper cuttings, photographs and recordings of the people of Eigg who took part in the campaign feature in a fascinating display in St Columba’s church, bringing to life this important time in the history of the island and Scotland more widely.

In addition, a new app – The Eigg Story – will be available through Google Apps from 1 September. With this app, you will be able to journey around Eigg and discover how community landownership has transformed it from a run-down private playground into a thriving island powered by renewables and proud of its environment and community achievements.
