Vieux Farka Touré

Vieux is the son of legendary Malian guitar player Ali Farka Touré. His father was wary of his son's desire to become a musician due to the pressures he had experienced within the industry. But with help from family friend, the kora maestro Toumani Diabaté, Ali gave Vieux his blessing to follow in his footsteps, shortly before he passed.

Vieux Farka Touré heads up a new generation of Malian desert blues. An accomplished multi-instrumentalist, Vieux has reshaped the music his father was renowned for, combining funk, reggae and jam music with the desert-blues genre.
