Between them (Alan Barnes & David Newton) these two masters of the British jazz scene have won over 20 national music awards. They are the 'go-to' players for a many, many bands small and large - jazz, pop and rock and for two essential reasons: firstly they are both virtuosos on their own instruments and secondly their playing and presentation provides some of the finest entertainment on the jazz scene today. Having both studied (excelled) at the same time at Leeds College of Music, they went on to perform together in many ensembles (Stacey Kent, Bryan Ferry, Stan Tracey, Bruce Adams, Van Morrison etc etc….). We believe they are at their best when playing together in an intimate environment as a small band and so we have added a touch of double bass to their duo format (Paul Jefferies) to allow the creative musical story telling creativity to flow…….
