The re-launch of a hospital radio station in a psychiatric unit in Glasgow transforms lives in this bittersweet comedy.

Behind Donna Franceschild’s brash, confrontational jokes is a plea for understanding of the damage done by circumstance. ‘Takin’ over the Asylum’ was originally commissioned for the BBC and won several awards including a BAFTA for Best Drama Series.

The play was first performed at the Citizens’ Theatre in 2013.
