Songs from the Last Page

Join Songs from the Last Page for a witty and heart-warming musical rendition of last lines from iconic books! A celebration of stories from acclaimed composer Gareth Williams, Songs from the Last Page presents an enchanting afternoon of brand new songs commissioned especially for Scotland’s Year of Stories 2022.

Mixing chamber music with contemporary pop, this live concert features songs inspired by twelve of the nation’s favourite books: including Robert Louis Stevenson’s Treasure Island, Alasdair Gray’s Lanark and Ely Percy’s Duck Feet. Accompanied by piano, violin and cello, Gareth’s performance brings fantastic fiction from the past 200 years to life!

Join us for a special pre-concert talk given by Gareth Williams. In this talk, attendees will gain an intriguing insight into the creative process behind Songs from the Last Page, and the inspiration for Gareth’s work in new music and new opera.

Wheelchair access is via the back door of the hall, the carpark has several spaces near the backdoor which are for those requiring access and the accessible toilet is also at the backdoor. In addition there is an installed loop system for the hard of hearing and the entrance, hall, front meeting rooms and the fire exits are all on one level.
