Escape room style game, played in the grounds of the Roman Fort. Suitable for children aged 8+ years and adults. Games organised by The Escape Games Company.

Your challenge: Build a signalling system to communicate from Segedunum Roman Fort on the eastern end of Hadrian’s Wall to Arbeia, South Shields Roman Fort which guards the entrance to the River Tyne. A critical message needs to be delivered in time. Do you have what it takes to succeed?

The game in detail: It’s AD 180 and Britannia is under the rule of the great Roman Emperor Marcus Aurelius. Communication along Hadrian's Wall, the 73-mile frontier system defending the Roman Empire from the Barbarians in the north, is paramount. If the Wall gets attacked by Votadini raiding parties, forts must communicate quickly and re-route soldiers to defend the Empire.

Find and solve puzzles which will guide you to the materials you need, and follow clues to construct the equipment, before sending the correct message from one side of the fort to the other.

But there is only one hour to build the signalling system before the crucial message must be sent. Will you succeed and deliver it on time – and protect the Roman Empire from imminent danger?
