Through generational stories of colonised bodies and questions of what race and culture mean in today’s world, MAMA mixes the beauty of chaos with the quietness of the human soul. It plunges audiences into an unforgiving world fraying at the seams; a world where dark colonial secrets start to see the light, where once loved communities crumble.

Far From The Norm is an international touring company that strives to make honest, relevant and needed performance work that reflects our generation. We deconstruct street dance vocabulary, challenge perceptions of Hip Hop and create work that empowers ordinary people. Our work is original and fearless and invites debate on social political issues and the contemporary world.

MAMA is co-produced by Far From The Norm, Cergy-Pontoise Points Communs, Sadler's Wells, Tanzköln, Théâtre de la Ville, The Joyce Theater and The Lowry.
