Madness of King George III

Details

Where O Where is Madness bred? In the Heart or in the Head?" This quote, though profound, has nothing at all to do with Alan Bennett's wonderful play 'The Madness of George III' which we look forward to presenting to you in the Westcliff Library Theatre this Spring. You may well have watched the musical Hamilton but do you know the British side of the story behind King George III? If not, and if you enjoyed The History Boys, then come along and hear an English comic masterpiece. Georgian High Politics. The fiendishness of the Prince of Wales. A doctor's obsession with stool. Chairs with shackles. The play sparkles with Bennett's trademark wit and devilry, and makes for a wonderful evening out, although we must add in caution that the language gets awfully fruity at times. Who is mad and who is able? Who is Mack and who is Mabel? These and other questions will be fully and historically explored in a night of ever-increasing lunacy.
