Lord Arthur Savile's Crime

In this comedy thriller, a palm reader attending a soiree at Lady Windemere’s convinces Lord Arthur Savile that it is his destiny to commit murder before he can marry his fiancee.

The aristocrat postpones his wedding and makes several inept attempts to fulfil his destiny, knowing that if he can sacrifice himself to the ‘steep heights of duty’, he will protect not only his good name but that of his future wife - as long as he gets away with it.

In this comedy thriller, adapted by Constance Cox from a short story by Oscar Wilde, we recognise all the hallmarks of Oscar Wilde’s hilarious parodies of the rules and rigid standards that people blindly follow in their pursuit of happiness.

In Oscar Wilde’s own words, ‘An inordinate passion for pleasure is the secret of remaining young’. We hope watching this performance takes years off you!
