Details

Kara Grainger is an Australian soul blues and roots rock singer-songwriter, based in Nashville, Tennessee.

As a youngster, she was always singing, and started learning how to play the guitar at age 12, improvising by her mid-teens, teaching herself to play while listening to musicians such as Etta James, John Lee Hooker, Stevie Ray Vaughan, and Little Feat. She grew up in Balmain, a suburb of Sydney, Australia, known for its pubs and live music venues that caters to jazz and blues music.

In 2008 Kara signed to Australian label Craving Records and was invited to the US by producer David Kalish where she recorded her debut solo album. Since then Kara has made three further albums whilst residing in the US.

Kara has toured her music all over the world, in Northeast India for the Himalayan Blues Foundation, at the Jakarta International Blues Festival, in Switzerland where she performed at the Sierre Blues Festival, and she has also toured in Belgium, Germany, France, Luxembourg and Spain. Another highlight was performing at Ronnie Scott's, London's premier blues and jazz venue.

Combining tasteful blues and slide guitar, soulful vocals and a heartfelt approach to songwriting, Kara's truly unique sound will leave you uplifted, inspired and always wanting more.
