Details

Five recently cleaned and conserved paintings by John Atkinson Grimshaw (1836-1893), a Leeds born artist best known for his nocturnal and urban landscapes. The conservation of the paintings have been generously funded by the former Friends of Scarborough Museums and will go on display in the newly named ‘Friends Gallery’ at Scarborough Art Gallery. Throughout the exhibition, the curatorial team will aim to use the paintings as research tools to examine a range of ideas related to history, culture and science, which we will share with our audiences through a changing programme of interpretation.
