Handels Messiah

Throughout the past four centuries of choral music, one work has shone brilliantly and continuously, defying changes of society, musical taste and style – Handel – Messiah. There is a simple reason for this. It contains the most sublime music with arias such as ‘I know that my Redeemer liveth’ and ‘The trumpet shall sound’,instrumental beauty in the Pastoral Symphony and a series of masterly movements for the choir culminating in the ‘Hallelujah’ and ‘Worthy is the Lamb’ choruses. The Chichester Singers performance of this great work will shine as a radiant light through the dark days of January.
