A Work-In-Progress Reading of a New Play by James McDermott A grief cafe in Lowestoft, a town grieving the loss of its high street. After losing her husband and confronting mortality, Crystal wants to live life to the full but needs to slow down. After losing her Dad, teenage Jordan wants to learn how to grieve properly and quickly but needs to learn grief is messy and endures. Group leader Howard wants to help everyone but needs to help himself by finally processing his own repressed grief… Commissioned by The Seagull Theatre, ‘Grief Cafe’ is a timely new life-affirming comedy drama about grief and growth from local writer James McDermott (Rubber Ring, Time & Tide, EastEnders). Please note this a work-in-progress script-in-hand reading of the play and will be followed by a Q&A with the creative team.
