WHEN WE ARE MARRIED Grassington Players present When We are Married By J B Priestley

This popular comedy is set in 1908 in a Yorkshire mill town. 3 couples who were married on the same day are gathered to celebrate their 25th wedding anniversary. They are pillars of the very traditional community - devoted chapel attendees and local “worthies“ and proud of their morality. They have decided to ask the young off-cumden chapel organist to visit them because they want to tell him off for being seen in the village with young women. Then disaster strikes! Someone calls to tell them the minister who married them 25 years ago was not authorised to do so. Pandemonium breaks out. They see their local reputations melting away before their eyes. Of course it all ends happily but not without a lot of marital battles and anxiety. A very funny play. The Bradford born playwright had close connections to the Dales and chose to be buried in Hubberholme, just a few miles from Grassington.
