Gala Lunchtime Concert Series (Feb 25)

Saxophonist and composer Luis Verde fuses potent Jazz improvisation with bold, playful and surprising composition. Now based in the UK, he’s one of the most remarkable and distinctive Contemporary Jazz musicians to have emerged from his generation in Spain.

A striking saxophonist, Luis will be joined by John Pope (double bass), John Hirst (drums) and Joe Steels (guitar) to perform a mix of original compositions from the band alongside standards by composers, including Thelonious Monk and Wayne Shorter.

These virtuosic musicians bring a contemporary perspective that explore rhythmic, harmonic and structural possibilities of their repertoire, finding new insights into the music whilst paying due respect to the jazz tradition.
