Join us for a feast of song in Howdenshire Music's fifth lunchtime concert of 2023.

After their wonderful performance in our 2021 concert series, we're thrilled to welcome soprano Bethan Terry and pianist Francesca Lauri back to Howden. They will be joined by acclaimed baritone Stephen Whitford.

Bethan Terry hails from York and was a finalist in the Somerset Song Prize 2022, Bath Opera Isobel Buchanan Award and English Song Competition for Voice and Piano. Recent engagements include works by George Walker in a special BBC Immersion concert, a tour of Mozart’s Così fan tutte (Fiordiligi) with North Wales Opera Studio, and a Lieder concert curated by Graham Johnson at Milton Court.

Francesca Lauri has performed in venues such as Wigmore Hall, Milton Court, the Fazioli Concert Hall, LSO St. Luke’s and Teatru Manoel in Malta. She recently won the RCM Lieder Competition piano prize and is also the winner of the 2022 Somerset Song Piano Prize and the AESS Dorothy Richardson English Song Piano Prize. She is a 2023 Shipston Song and Samling Young Artist.

Bethan and Francesca are 2023 Leeds Lieder Young Artists.

Stephen Whitford is based in Vienna and is currently a member of the prestigious Britten-Pears Young Artist programme. His most recent performances include a concert of the music of Brahms and Schumann in Vienna’s Musikverein and a series of recitals in the Aldeburgh Festival 2023. Stephen was also a semi-finalist in the Wigmore Hall/Bollinger International Song Competition 2022.
