Beeston Musical Theatre Group invites you to join us at the Duchess Theatre, Long Eaton for our production of the beloved musical classic: Fiddler on the Roof.
Based on Sholem Aleichem’s book ‘Tevye and his Daughters’, the story centres on Tevye, a poor dairyman, and his five spirited daughters in their tradition-steeped town of Anatevka. As new influences come into their lives, Tevye tries to protect his daughters and instill in them traditional values with the help of a colourful and tight-knit Jewish community in the face of growing prejudice.
The musical debuted in 1964 and the original production won nine Tony Awards; the famous film staring Topol was released in 1971 and it still has an enduring legacy of international popularity.
With iconic songs such as “Sunrise, Sunset", “If I Were A Rich Man", and “Matchmaker”, Fiddler On The Roof’s universal themes of community, family, humour, warmth, and honesty leave audiences crying tears of laughter, joy, and sadness.
