Details

Fergus McCreadie is one of the most exciting young jazz pianists on the world stage. Here he performs old favourites and newer work alongside Mr McFall's String Quartet. With his unique blend of Jazz and Scottish folk music inspired by his country’s sublime landscapes, Fergus captures the hearts and minds of audiences worldwide. He is undoubtedly a future star in the making. His 3rd studio album Forest Floor topped the UK Jazz & Blues charts, prompting sold-out performances accross the UK and netting Fergus a Mercury Prize. Fergus is the only non-classical musician to be selected as a 2022 BBC New Generation Artist.

Harpist and composer Maeve Gilchrist presents her new project The Harpweaver. Performing with Mr McFall's String Quartet, Maeve illuminates her roots as a traditional folk musician through luscious string parts and electronic manipulation. Inspired by The Ballad of the Harpweaver, Maeve incorporates a recitation by the poet who became a celebrity of Jazz-Age America, Edna St Vincent Millay. The Harpweaver hones in on the idea of artistic nostalgia. Notes and words that bring a sense of connection, possibility and joy. Originally from Scotland, Gilchrist has been making her mark as a ground-breaking harpist in the US for the last 17 years. She has collaborated with artists such as Ambrose Akinmusire, The Silkroad Project, Nic Gareiss, and Okkyung Lee. The new project breaks new ground for her as she steps into her own as a composer and producer.
