Peak District walk from Edale to Castleton and back, via Mam Tor and the 'Great Ridge'.

This 9.5-mile guide-led walk begins in the village of Edale, in the shadow of Kinder Scout, and heads out on the climb up onto the 'Great Ridge' between the Vale of Edale and the Hope Valley. After visiting the viewpoint at Lose Hill, it then drops down into the Hope Valley to call at the village of Castleton, home of the famous Blue John stone, before returning to Edale via another climb onto the 'Great Ridge' and the ancient hill fort of Mam Tor.

With around 2,600 feet of ascent, this is not a walk for the physically unprepared, but the reward for the climbs are some wonderful views across the Peak District landscape.

Easily accessible by train from Sheffield and Manchester. Car parking available (pay and display) at the start and finish point.

This walk is led by a guide with over 30 years experience of leading walks in the area. As places on the walk are limited, online pre-booking is essential. Group and discounted family rates available on request. Private group bookings available on other dates.
