Masumi Yamamoto, a London-based acclaimed harpsichordist, returns to Otley Baroque to showcase her brilliant virtuosity on early keyboard instrument, harpsichord.
In 1739, Thomas Roseingrave published 42 Sonatas by Domenico Scarlatti -the most influential and virtuosic harpsichordist in Naples- in London. They became hugely popular and many composers based in Britain were inspired by his music.
In this recital, Masumi will present harpsichord solo works by this Italian giant and the rarity of British composers with her excellent dexterity.
Teaming up with Otley Baroque's regular member Asuka Sumi, they will also draw the same musical italophilia in the violinist-composers in 18th century London including Corelli's famous La Folia.
Check out our special Children's Concert 'Scarlatti's Magical Hands' on the same day at 3pm!
