Dorian Ford - Without Words Trio

Details

Expansive and eclectic yet always subtle and intimate music from this drummer-less trio.

Without Words Trio is precisely that: three musicians 'singing songs as a trio of instrumentalists without ever actually singing a lyric.

A jazz piano trio with guitar instead of drums allows for a certain kind of intimate, subtle interplay which suggests the delicate and elegant world of chamber jazz. Nevertheless quite a few styles, emotions and atmospheres are conjured. If you listen closely, you will find all the lyrics are there.

Dorian's trio has been making a significant contribution to the London jazz scene, regularly playing at Ronnie Scott's, St James Theatre, the Vortex, for Jazz FM, and many other venues. Their Bill Game tour, which looked at the music of Bill Evans (the pianist who was responsible for the incredible sound on Miles Davis' Kind of Blue album), went the length of the country, from Shetland to Southampton. Recent appearances in Hobart and Newcastle, Australia and Beppu, Kyoto, Osaka, Nagoya and Tokyo, Japan.

Features Dominic Ashworth on guitar and Alex Keen on bass.
