Details

We welcome Elizabeth Muir-Lewis's Sussex Song Makers and our very own Brandenburg Singers to St Margaret Pattens, performing a mix of folks songs and classical choral greats, including music by Mozart, Purcell, Faure, Mendelssohn and Rutter. Conductor Elizabeth Muir-Lewis has not only had an international singing career but has extended her music into conducting. She founded and conducted Eastbourne Choral Society, and has also created many musical organisations such as the Eastbourne Camerata. She is also interested in all art forms, and is vice Chairman of an arts organisation in Sussex. Elizabeth studied at The Royal College of Music, later winning a scholarship to Vienna to study lieder. As well as a busy singing tutor, she is also trustee of the Richard Lewis trust which helps young singers at the Royal Academy of Music, holding a prestigious competition with a prize of £15,000. In 2014 Elizabeth decided to form an all female vocal group, the Sussex Song Makers. The idea was to present an entertaining programme of music, developing a repertoire ranging from early music to the present time combined with other art forms such as dramatic poetry readings. The Brandenburg Singers is a group of talented choral performers, brought together to perform both popular and less well-known repertoire. The singers are drawn from some of the best chamber choirs that regularly take part in the Brandenburg Choral Festival's Spring Series and Autumn Series.
