Antonio Bazzini string quartet in C minor Shostakovich string quartet No 10 in Ab major Beethoven string quartet Op 130 in Bb major It’s just great to welcome ‘Quartetto Noûs’ to open our season. Bazzini’s quartet, doubtless giving more than a hint of the composer’s brilliance as a violinist, is followed by two very remarkable quartets: pensive, probing Shostakovich No 10 and Beethoven’s wonderful Op 130 with its profoundly soulful ‘Cavatina’. Noûs, by the way, means ‘mind’, ‘spirit’, ‘soul’…
