Amakye Dede

One of Ghana’s most successful artists, who has reigned in the music industry for over four decades earning him legendary status. He is considered a trailblazer in Contemporary Highlife music and has performed on countless musical stages around the world.

The 64-year-old born and raised in Agogo, Ashanti Region has had a stellar career in music and is considered to be among the top five Ghanaian musicians of all-time.

He began his career in 1973 with the Kumapim Royal Band having churned groundbreaking songs which are still played on mass radio.

He, later on, formed his own band Apollo High Kings which played in big musical concerts around the world.

Abrantie Amakye Dede has 20 albums to his credit with countless hit songs.

He earned the name “Iron Boy” with his dazzling stage performance and as being relentless with his stagecraft despite being in his mid-60s.

Amakye Dede’s abilities as a performer are undisputed and has demonstrated it on various hit songs including "Handkerchief", "Seniwa", "Brebrebe yi", "Mensuro", "Mabre", "Broken Promises”, among many others.
