The film examines the growing crisis of climate displacement, focusing on Bangladesh, where rising sea levels threaten to permanently submerge large areas of the country’s southern coastline.
By 2050, between 10 and 30 million people could be internally displaced in Bangladesh alone, contributing to what may become the largest mass migration in human history. The film highlights the emerging reality of climate apartheid, where the wealthiest are able to shield themselves from environmental collapse while the poorest face its most devastating consequences. As part of Refugee Festival Scotland 2026, Southside Open-Air Cinema Day brings together a full day of screenings exploring climate displacement, exile, belonging and collective resistance.
The programme moves from planetary crisis to lived experience to community solidarity in action, culminating in a special screening of Everybody to Kenmure Street returning the film to the neighbourhood where the events it documents took place. This event is in partnership with Inhouse CIC, and Inhouse Event Productions.
Supported by Film Hub Scotland, part of the BFI’s Film Audience Network, awarding funding on behalf of Screen Scotland and the BFI National Lottery.
