Conductor - Jeremy SummerlyHandel warmed up for Messiah with his oratorio Israel in Egypt. The bottom had recently dropped out of the Italian opera market, so Handel turned his hand to composing oratorios in English which he made every bit as dramatic as opera. In Israel in Egypt there are rivers of blood, frogs, lice, blotches, blisters, hailstorms, and locusts. There are some achingly beautiful tunes too, and alls well that ends well. This concert is kindly sponsored by Mousehall Distillery and Winery, and supported by a generous donation from the Mayfield Festival Choir.A 10% discount is offered if tickets are bought for 5 or more separate Festival events in a single booking - just select your seats and then ' Continue shopping '.For those aged 25 and under, tickets are only 5.A pay bar will be open before the concert and during the interval (cards accepted). Please note that users of large mobility aids (such as wheelchairs or walking frames) must only purchase tickets for one of the designated seats in the Mobility Assistance section. All customers who purchase such a ticket are also entitled to an additional free ticket for a person who is accompanying them to the event.
